How to use Reiki

Practicing Reiki is actually more about working on yourself. To be attuned, you don’t have to consider treating the general public or becoming a Reiki professional. To use Reiki you carry out regular energy exercises and meditations and follow a set of ‘rules to live by’ (Reiki principles) that were set down by Reiki‘s founder. Reiki is not a religion, though, and people of all backgrounds use Reiki for self-healing and for spiritual– or self-development. By simply working on yourself with Reiki for a little while most days, you will experience many benefits.

The Reiki Principles

We must live according to principles so that the true path of humanity can be realized. This means that we need to improve our mind and body through practice. To do this, we need to heal our mind first. Then we make sure our body is healthy. When our mind is finally on the right path of honesty and seriousness, then our body becomes healthy on its own. The mind and the body are one and we live our life fully in peace and joy. We heal ourselves and the diseases of others. This is the goal of Usui Reiki Ryoho.

Mikao Usui

Reiki practitioners & teachers try to follow a simple set of ‘rules’ to live by, set down by Reiki’s founder, Mikao Usui. Here they are:

 Just for today

  • Do not anger
  • Do not worry
  • Be grateful and humble
  • Be honest
  • Be compassionate towards yourself and others
Treating yourself

One of the ways in which you can use Reiki is by treating yourself, a wonderful relaxing process that will leave you feeling content, comforted and at peace with yourself and the world.
